The Range Rover Velar is a stylish, refined and seriously appealing coupé SUV. If you keep to small wheels, it's a comfy companion while our favoured S trim gets plenty of kit. It’s best to stick to the cheaper trims and engines – once you start moving up the range, the price rises into the realms of better-resolved cars, such as the Audi Q8 and BMW X6.

The entry-level car comes with a battery capable of delivering a 310-mile driving range but buyers can select the Extended Range package—either at the time of purchase or anytime after that—which boosts the range to 335 miles. The Model S Performance comes with a range of 315 miles but focuses more on acceleration times; Tesla claims a zero-to-60-mph time of 3.0 seconds. For $20,000, Tesla will unlock the car's Ludicrous Mode, which drops that claimed acceleration time to an incredible 2.4 seconds.
